The chinese Information Technology company ZTE in joined forces with the Ambassador of China, Mr Lin Songtian have on Friday donated bursaries at Witwatersrand (Wits) University in Johannesburg, on Friday afternoon.
ZTE donated the bursaries amounting to R1 150 000 to the local information technology students of the esteemed university of Witwatersrand. The company which is a multinational telecommunications equipment and solution company headquartered in Shenzhen, China is very proud of the partnership they have with the Wits University, which is not only one of the top universities in South Africa but globally renowned.
The company also showed excitement of having an opportunity to make contribution to education, which is a key factor to the future growth of South African.
ZTE first set their footprint in South Africa in 2006 and have since grew tremendously over the years. “ we have chose Wits University amongst them all because it has proven itself with all the hard work it does “ – said Mr Songtian. ZTE initiated on a journey in sponsoring students from Wits University in 2017 successfully sponsoring 6 telecommunication and IT students in 2018 , and it has continued embarking on enlarging the bursary capacity of students for 2019 to 15 students.
“ we have foreseen a long term relationship, providing the students not only with bursaries, but career opportunities “ -said ZTE South Africa CEO Mr Jerry Zhou. The company hopes to build sustainable and long lasting relationships that will bring positive success to South Africa as well as IT and telecommunications sector through this initiative.
