Local Government, National Government

City of Johannesburg authorities issued a warning about a dangerous situation at a squatter camp called Stjwetla in Alexandra where one of the pylons and the overhead lines from the pylon fell on the shacks resulting in them catching fire.

“As of now we don’t know the cause of this. We are also not sure if there are casualties. We have dispatched a team to the area to investigate.
The line carries about 88  kilovolts of electricity and can result in injuries or even death if it comes into contact with a person.
We are expecting that several areas so be without electricity due to this” says city power’s spokesperson Isaac Mangena.
